Es ist eine Weile her, seit dem fantastischen Album „Taking The Long Way“ der Dixie Chicks. Am 7. Mai veröffentlicht Sängerin Natalie Maines nun ihr erstes Solo-Album „Mother„. Geschrieben und produziert hat sie es zusammen mit Ben Harper. Den ersten Song „Free Life“ gibt es schon mal hier. Und gleich noch ein Cover des Eddy Vedder-Songs „Without You“ dazu.

Natalie meint zu „Mother“:

I wanted this music to be very different from the Dixie Chicks. Lots of albums by lead singers might just as well have been made by the band, but I think this is very different from anything the Chicks could make. That separation and distinction was important.
